When is the last time you hiked Mt. Yonah? It's considered one of the more difficult day hikes in our area with about 1500ft elevation gain in two miles. @lfabian0326 took on the challenge last week while the mountain was still iced over! Great shot and thank for sharing!

It’s that time again where we like to share some of our favorite tips from our Wandering Pledge and today we want to give everyone a friendly reminder to respect any and all posted signage. We’ll start with this simple rule that we try to live by that says, “Smart people who know more about something than I do ask me not to do it, I should probably not do it.” We’re not trying to be smart asses about that. It’s just that Forest Service and State Park rangers, volunteers, and conservation groups work 40, 50, 60 hour weeks doing what they can to protect these places we all love and keep them accessible for our enjoyment. They’ve gone to school for this. They’ve received master’s level degrees in ecology and forest maintenance. They’ve read hundreds of books and written dozens of papers on the topic. They know what they’re talking about. So if they say stay on the trail here or not to pick wildflowers there, we’d be wise to listen to them and defer to their expertise. There are lots of ways to have fun in the mountains without ignoring really smart and sound advice from the people who it matters to most.

So this one isn't actually in Georgia, but we couldn't help but share this photo from Dry Falls just over the NC border. We often make the trip up into Highlands as it's a pretty short drive from Clayton, and stop at Dry Falls every chance we get! For being practically on the side of the road, it's such an impressive waterfall, especially after a good rain (or snow melt)!
